Puja in Omkarananda Ashram
Himalayas, 17th September, 2007
Every year, when Monsoon-season comes to
an end and the early autumn starts with sunny weather, the Vishwakarma Puja
is celebrated with joy in India, especially by craftsmen, workers, weavers,
gold and silver smiths, engineers, architects, artists, etc.
Lord Vishwakarma, a form of Brahma, the
divine Architect, who created the Universes, the heavens, the earth, is
worshipped on this occasion. He is shown with four hands, carrying a
water-pot, a book, a noose and craftsman's tools and is regarded as the
supreme worker, the very essence of excellence and quality in craftsmanship.
His puja is every year meticulously
celebrated by the main-carpenter of our Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas
Headquarters along with his associated workers and helpers in the
carpenter-workshop below the Ashram's Auditorium "Omkarananda Vidya Bhawan".
The workshop was cleaned spick-and-span
and with its many beautiful pictures of Divinities, Gurudev Swami
Omkarananda's photo and a big picture of Lord Vishwakarma, it resembled more
a simple temple room than a workshop. A Hawana-kunda was placed in the
middle after different cleaning-rituals and Hawan was made by one of our
Ashram-priests, preceded by Pujas.
Many Ashram-workers assembled to watch
the holy Pujas and Hawana, including the Carpenter-Master, Shri Ram Gopal.
The Pujas were specially attended also by Miss Friederike, Educationist, a
lovely Ashram-Devotee from Germany, who thoroughly enjoyed the simple, but
holy atmosphere. The Hawana was performed by the President of Omkarananda
Ashram Himalayas, Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji.
After conclusion of Hawana all
Ashramites, Ashram-Devotees and Ashram-workers received Kumkum-Tilak, Bhasma
from the holy Yajna and a lot of Prasadam, in form of fresh fruits and
sweets. Everybody in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas was beaming of joy on this

Ganesha removes all obstacles from the path of His devotees, be they
spiritual or material obstacles. Ganeshji is a mighty Cosmic Power, also
worshipped as "Lord of the Atoms". His Puja attracts great divine Blessings.
In the beautifully decorated Prayer Hall
of Omkarananda Dharma Samsthan, Mumbai, a grand 10 days Ganapati-Celebration
took place under the able and dynamic guidance of Shri Madhu V. Shastriji
and his holy, devoted family. A beautiful idol of Shri Ganapatiji was
installed and nicely decorated. Shri M.V. Shastriji had arranged for 11
expert-Priests who daily conducted prayers and special Pujas for Lord
Ganesha like Abhishekam, Sahasra Durva Archana (offering of holy grass,
which is dear to Ganeshji), Satya-Narayana Puja, etc. On the last day
Visarjana Pooja was performed and the idol of Ganeshji was submerged among
prayers into the nearby lake. The family members looked very well after the
priests, who had performed the 10-days Ganapati Puja and honoured them with
Prasadam and Dakshina.
Additionally to this special Celebration
inside the Prayer-Hall of Omkarananda Dharma Samsthan, Mumbai, also outside
the house a grand Ganapati Abhishekam was performed on behalf of Omkarananda
Dharma Samsthan, in the Refinery View Co-op. Housing Society's Ganapati
Mandapam, under the guidance of Shri Madhu V. Shastriji. He decorated the
immensely beautiful looking and shining huge Ganapati Idol in the Mandapa

Priests outside, in the Mandapa. Various MPs and MLAs and other eminent
leaders visited this event and took the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
