A grand function was organized to
celebrate the ninth Foundation-Day of Omkarananda Institute of Management
and Technology, on 7th September, 2007.
A beautiful stage in lush green premises
of the Institute, surrounded by garden flowers all around, added to the
grandeur of the function. The students' participation and enthusiasm for
organizing the function and making it a grand success has been remarkable
and appreciable.
The function was inaugurated by Director
Dr. S.N. Banerjee by lighting the lamp and offering floral tribute to His
Holiness Swami Omkarananda Saraswatiji, the Founder of the Institute, whose
vision for the cause of education is being realized in the form of such
Institutes.
The students, staff, faculty members and
members of the Board of Management welcomed the new Director and honoured
him with bouquets.
In his inaugural address Mr. Banerjee
welcomed the guests, students, alumni and media persons and expressed his
joy and called upon every one present to work for this great mission of
providing quality vocational education.

short time. He was reminding students of the vision of His Holiness Swami

students should put their honest efforts for making OIMT a centre of
excellence.

Vishwakarma
Puja in Omkarananda Ashram
Himalayas, 17th September, 2007
Every year, when Monsoon-season comes to
an end and the early autumn starts with sunny weather, the Vishwakarma Puja
is celebrated with joy in India, especially by craftsmen, workers, weavers,
gold and silver smiths, engineers, architects, artists, etc.
Lord Vishwakarma, a form of Brahma, the
divine Architect, who created the Universes, the heavens, the earth, is
worshipped on this occasion. He is shown with four hands, carrying a
water-pot, a book, a noose and craftsman's tools and is regarded as the
supreme worker, the very essence of excellence and quality in craftsmanship.
His puja is every year meticulously
celebrated by the main-carpenter of our Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas
Headquarters along with his associated workers and helpers in the
carpenter-workshop below the Ashram's Auditorium "Omkarananda Vidya Bhawan".
The workshop was cleaned spick-and-span
and with its many beautiful pictures of Divinities, Gurudev Swami
Omkarananda's photo and a big picture of Lord Vishwakarma, it resembled more
a simple temple room than a workshop. A Hawana-kunda was placed in the
middle after different cleaning-rituals and Hawan was made by one of our
Ashram-priests, preceded by Pujas.
Many Ashram-workers assembled to watch
the holy Pujas and Hawana, including the Carpenter-Master, Shri Ram Gopal.
The Pujas were specially attended also by Miss Friederike, Educationist, a
lovely Ashram-Devotee from Germany, who thoroughly enjoyed the simple, but
holy atmosphere. The Hawana was performed by the President of Omkarananda
Ashram Himalayas, Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji.
After conclusion of Hawana all
Ashramites, Ashram-Devotees and Ashram-workers received Kumkum-Tilak, Bhasma
from the holy Yajna and a lot of Prasadam, in form of fresh fruits and
sweets. Everybody in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas was beaming of joy on this
holy day.
