Report by Smt. Meenakshi Gupta
On
the eve of 23rd August, 2007, a grand show "Rang De Basanti" was organized
by "Unlimited Entertainment", a social and cultural organization, in the
Parashuram Hall of Bharat Mandir College, Rishikesh. Eleven schools
participated in the Group Dance and Fancy Dress Competition.
Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Preparatory
School presented a patriotic group dance "Mere desh ki dharti" which was
choreographed in such a way that it showed the real India in true sense:
Farmers ploughing the fields with their bulls, blossoming lotuses, green
fields decorated like a bride, people of different caste or creed living
together with love and affection, people having liberty to follow their own
path whether it was told by Guru Nanak or by Gautam Buddha. A complete
picture of Unity in diversity was shown nicely. Many of the great heroes of
India like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Lokmanya Tilak,
Rabindranath Tagore, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Lal Bahadur Shastri
and Hari Singh Nalway were also presented. They were the persons who
sacrificed their lives for the sake of the independence of our country and
made India proud of themselves.
This effort bagged the first prize for
Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Preparatory School. Adding to this, the school
was also awarded with first, third and consolation prizes in Fancy Dress
Competition, in which impersonations of our great freedom fighters were
presented along with their dialogues.
Because of receiving the highest number
of prizes, the Local media and the program organizers honoured Omkarananda
Saraswati Nilayam Preparatory School with highest appreciation, which was
accepted with the promise of maintaining high standard of performance also
in future.
