BackVisit of Belgian Film Team
on 30.11.2006

The Eyeworks Television Company with office in Belgium were making a film called "The Amazing Journey", etc. for telecasting in the prime hours on particular days in European countries.

Two famous personalities from Europe, a singer-cum-filmstar and a judge of international dance competitions, were selected to travel and explore holy places in Uttarakhand. The Manager of this Television Company selected our Omkarananda Ashram as a most ideal place. The different activities which they were looking for were now ideally before them. One remarkable specialty in the cultural world of India is no doubt the great art of Indian Classical Dance. Kumari Somashekhari, who is known for her professionalism and excellency in this field, was what they exactly wanted. After watching a dance performance of Somashekhari and her students, the two stars were so overwhelmed by this typical beauty of Indian Art that they requested Somaji to teach them a few steps and Mudras. The two Western artists got more and more interested in the divine art form of Indian Dance and were eager even to know more.

It was not only the professional film team from Belgium, which was present but also a good gathering could watch the interesting shooting.

The hard labour and dedication which Somashekhari has put in her work in studying and practising this Indian Art has helped in propagating this great culture through the media also to numerous people in the Western hemisphere.

The team from Belgium felt that they were never expecting such a wonderful atmosphere and were extremely thankful for the efforts and the way everybody of our Ashram has made it possible to give the best on that particular evening.

The Belgium TV-Team also took an extensive interview of Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda, President of Omkarananda Ashram, to learn more about Indian Culture and a spiritual way of life. The whole Television Crew along with the 2 international artists admired the beauty and peaceful atmosphere of Omkarananda Ashram. They thanked Swami Vishveshwarananda deeply for his kindness and cooperation and they expressed their sincere wish to come to this place again and again.

Back24th Foundation Day of Omkarananda Saraswati
Nilayam, Muni-ki-reti on 1.12.2006

The 24th Foundation Day of the school was celebrated with fervour and enthusiasm. We had the privilege to have amongst us Swami Vishveshwaranandaji, Kumari Somashekhariji, Swami Narasimhuluji, Shri D.K. Varshney, Prof. G.S. Rajwar and other distinguished guests. It was on 1st December 1983, that the school came into existence with the blessings of His Holiness Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswatiji. Although the school started off with a handful of students but today the school is proud to boast to have around 2200 students.

The function started with the lighting of the lamp by revered Swami Vishveshwaranandaji who has been a great strength provider to this school since its inception. The programme began with Aarti-Dance "Om Jaya Jagadisha Hare". This was followed by a speech of School Captain Dimple Singh, who highlighted the drastic progress of the school and also mentioned the school motto:

"Think like a Genius, Work like a Giant, Live like a Saint."

Next, the tiny tots showed their excellent performance by an action song. It was followed by the choreography "Say no to hunting". The synchronization of this choreography impressed everyone.

The school students performed heart-touching dances

After this the play "Vices of Society" was staged by students of junior classes which depicted the dangerous effect of the vices on the masses of the country. This play won third prize in Eureka International 2006, which was held in Lucknow. Next was the community poem "Pani re Pani" which highlighted the importance of water in all walks of human life.

Then came the most awaited moment i.e. the release of our school magazine "Prayatnasheel".

No function of our institution is considered complete without the blessings of Swami Vishveshwaranandaji. It is always a pleasure for us to hear the inspiring and wonderful speech of Swamiji. He admired and appreciated the efforts of the students and the teachers. The function concluded with the vote of thanks by the Principal Col. (Retd.) D.L. Sachdeva. He thanked Swamiji and other guests for their participation in the Foundation Day.

Swami Vishveshwaranandaji blesses and inspires the students and teachers

BackSpeech by the School Captain, Miss Dimple,
Student of Class 12 on this occasion

Seize the moment before its gone, For another day begins at dawn,
Embrace the night which brings you rest, Awake and know you did your best,
Seize the moment you will be blest, Then rest assured you passed the test,
For he who tries can never fail, Seize the moment and hold it dear,
And rise by faith above your fear.

Greatness lies not in flying high in the sky but to remain attached to the ground and reach the zenith not forgetting the foundation. By the blessings of Gurudev Swami Omkarananda Saraswati and through the benevolent efforts of Swami Vishveshwarananda, this school has been flourishing from a little sprout which was sown 23 years ago and has gained laurels for itself.

Just like a river originates as a rivulet from the mountain, throughout its journey it passes through many boulders. It has in its long odyssey phases of calm and quiet water, as well as rocky terrains and finally it joins the vast ocean, so this institution, passing through various ups and downs eventually reached the horizon of success and will continue to do so.

The grace and the wonder of our Gurudev Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswatiji made it possible to bring up a school which stands in the front of education.

Amongst the tremendous challenges which the school had experienced in the process of development, we could feel the vibrant presence of Swami Omkarananda Saraswatiji.

After Swami Omkaranandaji, Swami Vishveshwar'anandaji has proved to be a boon for this school. It is because of his incredible efforts that we are striving through excellent jobs, respect and honour. This would never have been possible without his efforts. His blessings have led every one of us out from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge.

And also heartfelt regards to the most dynamic Principal Col. D.L. Sachdeva who has shown courage, energy and tremendous will to continue and upgrade this school for higher achievements.

I would like to end with a quote of Swami Omkaranandaji, which he said while he was still in teens: "I realized that even the life of a monarch or millionaire is not worth aspiring for." This realization was home of his actually living the life of a monarch or millionaire within himself that lit within him the lamp of knowledge and compassion at the very young age. He in the true sense knew the meaning and purpose of life and has proclaimed to the world the reality that underlies all the life in the universe with his transforming thought of:

Think like a Genius, Work like a Giant, Live like a Saint.
