Students, their parents, teachers and some
members of the School Managing Committee dominated the celebrations of
Omkarananda Mahotsava at Omkarananda Ashram on 31st December 2005. The
programme began with the lighting of the lamp by Swami Vishveshwarananda
and Col. (Retd.) D.L. Sachdeva. Saraswati Vandana invoked the Goddess of
Knowledge to shower her blessings on all present and to provide
enrichment to the programme of the evening. Teachers of the School sang
a heart-touching song, composed only a day before by the music teacher
Mrs. Sujata Banerjee, to express their adorations for Swamiji for
receiving the 'Pride of Uttaranchal' Award on 25th December 2005 and
presented him a shawl as a mark of respect.
Then followed the cultural programme put up by
students of Classes Nursery to XII consisting of solo dance, group
dances, group songs, drama and choreography. Feet tapping and rhythmic
clapping along 'CHOTI-SI-ASHA', performed by a KG student and group
song, sang by junior students, reverberated the entire hall.
Dance-Choreography entitled 'SHADES OF LIFE' kept everyone spell-bound;
one-act-play 'MOTHER' was staged at high emotional pitch and one could
observe a number of persons in the audience and on stage wiping their
wet eyes. The anchors, students from the school, entertained the
spectators with appropriate quotes of H.H. Swami Omkarananda Saraswati,
from time to time. The whole atmosphere in Omkarananda Vidya Bhawan had
high religious fervour.

Mr. and Mrs. Banerjee were presented 'shawls of
honours' for their untiring, unlimited and invaluable contributions in
bringing up presentation of cultural items of our school-students at
local, national and international levels and going much beyond their
call of duty. Their services of last four years are, in fact,
praiseworthy. Ms. Neelam Rohtgi, Computer Programmer, was also presented
with a 'shawl of honour' for giving a befitting level to the School
Magazine. Her creative urges are clearly visible in the last four issues
of the magazine. Swami Vishveshwarananda was liberal enough to present
shawl to the Principal, Col. (Retd.) D.L. Sachdeva and spoke words of
encouragement for the students and staff. He showered special honours on
Mrs. Kusum Agarwal, Mrs. Q. Chakarvorty, Mrs. M Chaturvedi, Mrs. K.
Taneja, Ms. S. Adhikari, Ms. Jyot Varshney and other members of the
staff for their contribution to make the evening a grand success.
The cultural programme was followed by ARATI and LANGAR (Bhandara), in
which ca. 450 students, teachers, parents, staff and members of
Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam and Omkarananda Ashram took part.

Students, parents and teachers were extremely
happy in being a part of Omkarananda Mahotsava. Some of the parents said
that they had never attended such a gala year-end evening in life and
offered their obeisance to H.H. Swami Omkarananda and Swami
Vishveshwarananda to give such a rare opportunity.
