Balinese Dance Performance in Omkarananda
Ganga Sadan, on 28th February 2013
Shri Indra Udayana, President of Ashram
Gandhi Puri, Denpasar, Bali, is frequently visiting India, along
with his disciples and devotees and some trained dancers from his
Balinese Dance-Troup.
Over the years they have developed a strong
bond and special friendship with Usha Devi, Yoga-Instructor of
Patanjala Yoga Centre in Omkarananda Ganga Sadan, and her son
Siddhartha Krishna, scholar and lecturer in the subjects of Yoga
and Vedas.
Usha Devi is always very keen to arrange
Balinese Dance-Programmes in Omkarananda Ganga Sadan, so whenever
Shri Indra Udayana and his team visit India, Usha's Yoga-students
have the chance to witness Balinese dances.
Such a dance performance took place in the
evening of the 28th February 2013, in the Yoga Hall of Omkarananda
Ganga Sadan, Muni-ki-Reti.

Shri Indra Udayana is lighting the deepas for an auspicious start
of the programme.

Siddhartha Krishna is introducing the artists from Bali.
Apart from the Yoga-Students some important
guests also attended this programme. Among them were Swamini
Hamsananda Saraswati and Shri Vidya from Omkarananda Ashram
Austria, Shri G. Sukumar, Trustee Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas,
Nageswary Devi, a great Saint and Shiva-Bhakta, Dr. Prakriti
Bhaskar, Bharatanatyam Dance-Guru from Mumbai and Rujuta Diwekar,
Dietician and Nutrition Expert, Mumbai.

At the beginning of the programme the honourable guests were
requested to light the deepas in front of Lord Patanjali.
Then Siddhartha Krishna introduced Indra
Udayana and his Ashram in Bali and explained in detail all the
different dance-items, which were going to be presented.
Two professional male Balinese Dancers,
wearing colourful costumes, ornaments and different masks,
performed several items, which were all well received by the
audience.
After the exotic Balinese dance-items were
completed the two artists were very much thanked by Siddhartha
Krishna and Usha Mataji.
Swamini Hamsananda and Shri Vidya honoured
them with flower malas and gifts.
Shri Indra Udayana had brought a Ganesha Murti
from Bali, which he happily presented to Usha Devi.
This event concluded with Arati and
Pushpanjali, the offering of flowers for Lord Patanjali, and
Prasad-Distribution for all.
