Balinese Dance Performance
in Omkarananda Ganga Sadan, on 28th February 2013

Shri Indra Udayana, President of Ashram Gandhi Puri, Denpasar, Bali, is frequently visiting India, along with his disciples and devotees and some trained dancers from his Balinese Dance-Troup.

Over the years they have developed a strong bond and special friendship with Usha Devi, Yoga-Instructor of Patanjala Yoga Centre in Omkarananda Ganga Sadan, and her son Siddhartha Krishna, scholar and lecturer in the subjects of Yoga and Vedas.

Usha Devi is always very keen to arrange Balinese Dance-Programmes in Omkarananda Ganga Sadan, so whenever Shri Indra Udayana and his team visit India, Usha's Yoga-students have the chance to witness Balinese dances.

Such a dance performance took place in the evening of the 28th February 2013, in the Yoga Hall of Omkarananda Ganga Sadan, Muni-ki-Reti.

Shri Indra Udayana is lighting the deepas for an auspicious start of the programme.

Siddhartha Krishna is introducing the artists from Bali.

Apart from the Yoga-Students some important guests also attended this programme. Among them were Swamini Hamsananda Saraswati and Shri Vidya from Omkarananda Ashram Austria, Shri G. Sukumar, Trustee Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, Nageswary Devi, a great Saint and Shiva-Bhakta, Dr. Prakriti Bhaskar, Bharatanatyam Dance-Guru from Mumbai and Rujuta Diwekar, Dietician and Nutrition Expert, Mumbai.

At the beginning of the programme the honourable guests were requested to light the deepas in front of Lord Patanjali.

Then Siddhartha Krishna introduced Indra Udayana and his Ashram in Bali and explained in detail all the different dance-items, which were going to be presented.

Two professional male Balinese Dancers, wearing colourful costumes, ornaments and different masks, performed several items, which were all well received by the audience.

After the exotic Balinese dance-items were completed the two artists were very much thanked by Siddhartha Krishna and Usha Mataji.

Swamini Hamsananda and Shri Vidya honoured them with flower malas and gifts.

Shri Indra Udayana had brought a Ganesha Murti from Bali, which he happily presented to Usha Devi.

This event concluded with Arati and Pushpanjali, the offering of flowers for Lord Patanjali, and Prasad-Distribution for all.
