Vishwakarma Puja in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas,
17th September 2011

Every year on the 17th day of September month the Lord of workmanship and divine architecture, Vishwakarma, is being honoured in a graceful, joyous and divine way in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas.

The carpenter workshop and other working places were thoroughly cleaned and different kinds of tools were nicely put in front of an Altar, one by one, in a row, like screwdriver, hammer, chisel, plier, etc. and on each tool was tied a red holy thread.

In the middle of a beautifully erected Altar, surrounded by fragrant flowers and burning incense, the Lord of all works and of all activities, Vishwakarma, was placed and worshipped.

One of the Omkarananda Ashram Priests, Shri Mukesh Vyas and his assistant, first performed a Puja followed by a Yajna. Every worker of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas attended this prayer. Swami Vishveshwarananda and Kumari Somashekhari were requested by the workers to join the Yajna. The entire place was full of the holy smoke and the fragrance of the Yajna, which was a great blessing for the entire maintenance staff, who joined the prayers.

Swami Vishveshwarananda thanked all the workers for all their hard and faithful works during the past year. He also mentioned that everybody should feel that not he, but Lord Vishwakarma, is finally doing the work. The more they are having this feeling in their heart, the better the workmanship will be. Swamiji also said, that we all shall be very grateful to Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, who has given to each and everybody the opportunity to build up a heaven on earth.

In the end of the function different kinds of Prasadam in form of fruits and sweets were distributed to everybody.
