Welcome
of Shri B.K.S. Iyengar with Purnakumbha in Omkarananda
Ganga Sadan. |
It was a remarkable day, when on 3rd January of this new year 2011
the world famous Yogacharya Shri B.K.S. Iyengar visited the
Patanjala Yoga Kendra in Omkarananda Ganga Sadan, which is
situated directly at the holy river Ganga. Elaborate arrangements
were made for a grand welcome of this well-known Yogacharya.
When Shri Iyengar entered Omkarananda Ganga Sadan a rain of
flowers was showered on him. He was received by Usha Devi,
In-charge of Patanjala Yoga Kendra, amidst chanting of Shlokas by
the Priests. Entering the Yoga Hall, Swami Vishveshwarananda,
Kumari Somashekhari and Shri Sukumar received and garlanded the
great Yogi. Though more than 15 years had passed, his sharp and
most probably Yogic memory still remembered Somashekhari, who had
performed Indian Classical Dances, when he was present in a
function, organised by U.P. Tourism during an International
Yoga-week.
During Chanting of Patanjali Shlokas
flowers are offered to Lord Patanjali. |

After lighting of the Deepas, Shri Siddhartha Krishna welcomed
Shri B.K.S. Iyengar and brought him to a special seat on the dais.
Shri B.K.S. Iyengar, in spite of his hectic schedule, spoke nearly
for around 20 minutes to the audience.
Swami Vishveshwarananda, on behalf of Omkarananda Ashram, thanked
him for his kind visit and praised his enormous activities in the
field of Yoga.
Finally, while taking Prasadam, Iyengar in a very relaxed mood had
a nice informal talk with Swami Vishveshwarananda and Kumari
Somashekhari, while surrounded with many Yoga students.
And in the end, among great and loud clapping and joyous cheers,
Iyengar left for the airport.
