Priest Dr. K. Pitchai Sivacharyar offers gifts to
Swami Vishveshwarananda and Kumari Somashekhari. |
The day brought a lot of surprises, especially when a prominent
Sanskrit Scholar, Dr. K. Pitchai Sivacharyar, along with 25 well
trained young Sanskrit-Students, visited Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi
Mandir in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas.
Dr. K. Pitchai Sivacharyar is the Chief Priest of Shri Karpaka
Vinayakar Temple, Pillayarpatti, in Sivagangai District, Tamil
Nadu, about 70 km away from Madurai. This ancient rock-cut cave
Temple is more than 2500 years old.
After having the Darshan of Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi, Dr. Pitchai
Sivacharyar offered shawls, dhotis, etc. to Swami
Vishveshwarananda, Swami Satchidananda and Kumari Somashekhari.
When this great and saintly Vedic Scholar came with his students
into the courtyard of Omkarananda-Shanta-Durga Mandir and had the
Darshan of the Yajnashala and the Murti of
Omkarananda-Shanta-Durga, he requested his students to recite
Ganesha-Atharvashirsham and other Vedic Hymns and Mantras.

The whole courtyard was vibrating from the beautiful, powerful
prayers of the young South-Indian Sanskrit Students. Everybody was
surprised about their good conduct and their discipline and also
their excellent Sanskrit-pronunciation.
Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati, President, Omkarananda
Ashram, thanked them profusely and blessed all of them with
Rudrakshas and other Prasadam.
Shri Swami Rakeshananda of Karttikeya Ashram, Rishikesh, had
accompanied Dr. K. Pitchai Sivacharyar and his students to
Omkarananda Ashram.
