On his arrival the great Scholar and Priest Dr. K. Pitchai

and Kumari Somashekhari.
The day brought a lot of surprises, especially when a prominent Sanskrit Scholar, Dr. K. Pitchai Sivacharyar, along with 25 well trained young Sanskrit-Students, visited Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas.

Dr. K. Pitchai Sivacharyar is the Chief Priest of Shri Karpaka Vinayakar Temple, Pillayarpatti, in Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu, about 70 km away from Madurai. This ancient rock-cut cave Temple is more than 2500 years old.

After having the Darshan of Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi, Dr. Pitchai Sivacharyar offered shawls, dhotis, etc. to Swami Vishveshwarananda, Swami Satchidananda and Kumari Somashekhari.

When this great and saintly Vedic Scholar came with his students into the courtyard of Omkarananda-Shanta-Durga Mandir and had the Darshan of the Yajnashala and the Murti of Omkarananda-Shanta-Durga, he requested his students to recite Ganesha-Atharvashirsham and other Vedic Hymns and Mantras.

The whole courtyard was vibrating from the beautiful, powerful prayers of the young South-Indian Sanskrit Students. Everybody was surprised about their good conduct and their discipline and also their excellent Sanskrit-pronunciation.

Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati, President, Omkarananda Ashram, thanked them profusely and blessed all of them with Rudrakshas and other Prasadam.

Shri Swami Rakeshananda of Karttikeya Ashram, Rishikesh, had accompanied Dr. K. Pitchai Sivacharyar and his students to Omkarananda Ashram.
