Visit of Raval of Gangotri-Temple to
Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas
on 24th January 2010

On 24th January 2010 the Honourable Chief-Priest (Raval) of the famous Gangotri-Temple visited Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir to pay his obeisance to the Devi.

The Raval was accompanied by his Assistant-Priests,
all nicely dressed in traditional Dhotis and wearing orange and white caps.

Reciting different Sanskrit-Shlokas, they altogether prayed in front of Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi.

Then, in their own traditional way, they offered a Chadar (Shawl of honour) and Gangotri-Temple Prasadam to the President of Omkarananda Ashram,
Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati.

After visiting all the Shrines of Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir and Mahakala-Bhairava Mandir, they went to have Prasadam in Omkarananda Yoga-Sadhana Kutir.

The Raval of Gangotri and his Assistant-Priests were so much overwhelmed by the cleanliness and the wonderful vibrations of the Omkarananda Ashram Temples, that they decided to make Omkarananda Ashram their base, whenever they would come down from Gangotri.

In the afternoon all went to Triveni Ghat, Rishikesh, where a typical musical band from Garhwal welcomed the Raval and Swami Vishveshwarananda.

They all were guided by the musical band to a dais, at the bank of the Ganga, where a Katha about the glory of this holy river took place.

The Raval presided over the Katha.

On this occasion, Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda, who had been invited to join the Katha, was specially honoured.
