61st Republic Day Celebration in
Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Inter-College
Muni-ki-reti, on 26th January 2010

Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam, having a strength of 2500 students and classes from Nursery to Class 12, celebrated the 61st Republic Day, on 26th January 2010, with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. This year the programme witnessed for the first time mass participation of more than 400 students of the primary wing.

The Chief Guest was Shri G. Sukumarji, Trustee, Omkarananda Saraswati Charitable Trust. The event was also attended by former Chairman, Nagar Panchayat, Shri Manoj Dwivedi and esteemed Members of the School Managing Committee.

The program commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag followed by an impressive March Past by enthusiastic students.

The cultural programme began with a melodious group action song by class II students 'Hum Chaman Ke Phool Hai' pledging to face all the challenges of the world.

Our tiny tots did not lag behind! Class I students gyrated beautifully to the tune of 'We keep our umbrella…'

'Music is a great communication and language can never be a barrier.' It was proved true by a scintillating Garhwali folk dance by class III students. The dance was a real treat to the eyes!

The school basketball ground, "OMKARANANDA MINI STADIUM", was transformed into a mini Rajpath, which witnessed a number of colourful events like 'Aisa Des hai Mera…' by class V students and 'Jai Ho' by class IV students exhibiting their love and pride for the nation.

The whole atmosphere was charged with tapping dance movements performed by talented youngsters of class IV and V.

'Physical recreation is the best ingredient for overall development.' It was proved by a 'Lezium Display' by class IV and V students. Their synchronized hand and feet movements looked really graceful.

Some breathtakingly advanced Yoga Asanas were performed by the students of class II to V. The presentation filled the audience with a sense of pride of being an Indian.

On this auspicious occasion of 61st Republic Day celebration Sakshi Rajput of class V delivered an inspiring speech reminding the students of their devotion and dedication to the nation.

Every heart was filled with the feeling of patriotism when students of class IV and V sang 'Jai Bharati, Vande Bharati.'

The Chief Guest, Shri Sukumarji, and Shri Manoj Dwivedi congratulated and blessed the students on this auspicious day.

Raghav Arora and Bishakha Jain of class V did us proud by comparing the whole event with lot of confidence and élan.

The release of balloons at the end of the programme signified the free spirit of India.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the Principal, Col. Shri Sachdeva. He was highly appreciative of the programme. He applauded the efforts of the students and teachers alike. In his speech he underlined that this year's Republic Day celebration was better than that of the previous year and he exhorted the students to do even better next year. He was also very thankful to the parents who had turned out in large numbers to encourage their young ones. He was very appreciative of the fact that more than 400 students actively participated this year in the celebration.

Sweets were also distributed to the students to remind them, that Republic Day is no less important than their birthdays.
