Mahashivaratri-Celebrations
in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas

As every year, Mahashivaratri, the great
Festival, dedicated to Lord Shiva, was celebrated with deep
devotion and religious fervour in all the Shiva-Temples of
Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas.
Special Pujas were conducted with
recitations of Vedic Hymns and Mantras for Lord Shiva,
Shiva-Bhajans and Kirtans and offering of Abhishekam with holy
Ganges-Water, Cow-Milk, Honey, Sugar and other ingredients, and
decoration of the holy Idols of Lord Shiva with flowers and
beautiful fresh Bilwa-Leaves, which are specially dear to Lord
Shiva.
The worship was conducted simultaneously in
different Shiva-shrines, at different places, by all the Priests
of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, throughout the whole night, till
the next morning 4 AM, without any interruption.
For this wonderful occasion even devotees
from Delhi had come to Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, and they were
participating in the Pujas joyously till the early morning hours.
The biting cold North-Indian weather, which
was prevalent during this time, could not hinder anybody to
express hour-long, deep worship to Lord Shiva.
