A special Altar with Gurudev's photo, decorated nicely with flowers, was erected by the Chief Priest of Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir, Shri Suresh Shastri and his team, at the Ghat. He performed a special Puja in honour of Gurudev, followed by a Hawana. Besides Swami Vishveshwarananda, Swami Narasimhuluji, Kumari Somashekhari, Swamini Vedamatananda, Siddhartha, Usha Mataji, many other devotees and Swamis from different Ashrams joined this event at the Ghat.

After the Hawana the Omkarananda Ashram Pandits, Siddhartha and Kumari Somashekhari sang Bhajans.

To complete this auspicious event Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda, President of Omkarananda Ashram, and others offered Arati to Gurudev Swami Omkarananda and Ganga Maa with deep devotion.

All the participants of this enchanting celebration in honour of Gurudev got the opportunity to offer beautiful flower boats with deepas to the Ganga along with prayers. It was a heart-touching sight to see so many glowing, shining lights swimming peacefully on the Ganga shortly after sunset.

BackOmkarananda Bhajan Mandali
in Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir
on 2nd January 2007

A singing start into the New Year by our Omkarananda Bhajan Mandali group gave on the 2nd day of the New Year a wonderful atmosphere. The children were beautifully dressed in the typical traditional Indian style wearing a red and white Saree and their hair was specially made to be close to the real life of the Devis of the ancient times.

The Bhajan Mandali group, which is headed by Kumari Somashekhari, is trained in singing purely spiritual Songs, Bhajans. The beauty in this is the fact that the young children already get into the world of singing divine songs and chanting Mantras and the holy words of the religious scriptures.

After the assembled devotees had enjoyed many songs for the Deities, Shri Swami Narasimhuluji rewarded each of the singers for their wonderful and joyous performance. The Devis must have definitely felt satisfied seeing these beautiful children singing in full devotion their praise to the Divinity.

BackSpecial Pujas and Hawanas for
Gurudev Swami Omkarananda

During the period of Omkarananda Mahotsava on the special days of 26th, 27th and 29th December 2006 as well as 3rd January 2007, special Pujas and Hawanas were performed for Gurudev Swami Omkarananda. The Hawanas guided by our Chief Priest, Shri Suresh Shastriji, together with assisting Priests, were of very very sparkling nature. Beautifully arranged according to the ancient Indian Tradition and in the finest possible way and under the rhythm of Mantra-chanting, the Yajnas produced an atmosphere, which elevated all the people, who joined around, into divine inspirations.

After the Yajnas Bhajans were sung and the final conclusion took place with a powerful Arati for Gurudev Swami Omkaranandaji.

Special Hawanas in honour of Gurudev were
conducted by our Priests. Here you see
